Last week was a great week in workouts! I am sore though and looking back on my summary I need to change a few things going forward. Last week was the first week that I did Max30 according to plan and worked my running around it.
Here is what I accomplished:
Sunday – Max:30 Cardio Challenge, 19:50 Max Out
Monday – Max:30 Tabata Power, 10:35 Max Out
Tuesday – Max:30 Sweat Intervals, 13:07 Max Out and 3.1 Mile Speed Run
Wednesday – Max:30 Tabata Power, 11:42 Max Out
Thursday – Max:30 Friday Night Fight Round 1, 7:34 Max Out
Friday – Rest
Saturday – 6 Mile Run, I finished in an hour
Sunday – 4 walks with the dogs, foam rolling and Rest
It went close to plan, but not exactly as I really wanted to run Thursday night too but I was seriously too sore and tired. I was fine again by Friday morning, but doubling up on Max:30 and running on the same day is just not working for me. My body needs more recovery time, but I am pleased to say it is overall recovery. I have not had any imbalance related issues this week!
Prior to this week I was doing a hybrid of Max:30 with running but mainly focusing on Max:30. Now, looking at my race calendar May is coming up really quick and that is when I want to focus on speed.
I have a decent base built up for Half Marathon training now, but I really think in order to meet my speed goals and set a new PR, I need to make running the priority and use Max:30 more to maintain and improve my core and strength.
UGH, I really just wish I could find a good balance and I know it is coming. My goal today is to read the Hanson’s Half Marathon method and figure out where I need to be in order to end up at the end of May with my goal race, Dexter to Ann Arbor.
I will then focus on seeing what that running plan is and then how I can add in Max:30 Cardio Challenge, Tabata Power (1x a week) and Friday Night Fight. I’m going to set aside Sweat Intervals and the second Tabata Power for now as I did in the previous weeks.
Always a work in progress, but I really LOVE the benefits I have gained from Max:30. I have never had a program get my core in shape in such a short time. Every runner needs a strong core!
Speaking of a strong core, I have a few spots left for my next Fit Squad starting March 15th. What is a fit squad, you ask? Well we work together to make your fitness goals a reality.
